Happy Sunday and a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms out there! This is officially my second Mother’s Day but for some reason, this time it seems more real. Maybe coz Rodrigo´s not a little baby anymore and now its just me and my son, It´s just us our moment and It’s a bond that will never end and I will never be able to describe (only mommies know the feeling). While appreciation for any parent should be every day of the year, I still love to extra appreciate mom on this special day. I had no idea how hard (yet amazing) motherhood would be until I got there. So my love and respect for my own mom (and anyone out there who has ever raised a child) grows more and more every day.
It’s also interesting being able to celebrate Mother’s Day as a daughter and now a mom as well. Being able to experience both sides allows me to not only appreciate my mom so much more but also understand her on a whole new level. My mom has always been my biggest inspiration and role model growing up and still is to this day. My mom was an amazing loving & caring mother who dedicated her life to me and my brother. She has been present since ever and she sacrificed her entire life for us to be a full-time stay at home mommy. I never understood how big of a sacrifice that was until I had my own son. Even now that I have Rodrigo she is the one that has been here for us since Rodrigo was born, she helped and teached me everthing like a truly grandma, she went with me in my sons first consultation with his pediatric, went with me to all Rodrigo's vaccines - Moms you all know how hard is to see your baby crying because of a vaccine... She is always available to help me with Rodrigo and she is always full of love to give. I hear stories here and there and thats when I realize how blessed I am! My mom is still the only person I can come to for anything and I know she'll be there. My mom who raised me and made me a good person, always so affectionate, protective, who taught me the value of a close family (maybe thats why I always wanted to be a mom coz I have the best mom), teached me the good path, education comes from home. Gave me the best and unconditional love which made me who I am now & I thank her for that. If I do one good thing in my life it will be raising my son to be a perfect gentleman, a good man w/ morals and a good heart. K... also big & strong like Hulk! (hahaha)
Now whether you’re a working mom or a stay at home mom none of it is easy, but I think we can all agree that it is the most rewarding job... Whether you are in the grind every day to bring home that bread for your family or you’re at home with your little ones (and trust me being at home all day with the little ones is not an easy either) the one common thread between all of us moms is that we are all doing our best. We may all have different circumstances but we’re all trying to give our little ones the best lives and opportunities that we can. And I’ll be the first one to say that it’s not easy so all of you mamas out there should be proud of yourselves!
TO MY MOM
“There are times when only a Mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a Mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a Mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a Mother’s heart and a Mother’s faith
And a Mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above.”
A very Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there and of course to my very own coz she is the best mom and grandma!
Mami te amo!
